Randy Johnson Ahead of Schedule

Notes: Big Unit ahead of schedule
SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Randy Johnson is getting closer to pitching in a game after tossing his second session of batting practice on a back field in Surprise, Ariz., on Tuesday.
"I've thrown a lot of bullpens now, and I've got my endurance up now, and I've thrown to some hitters now," said Johnson, who underwent his second back surgery in as many years last July. "Everything has been a step in the right direction, no setbacks or anything. My endurance has come along. We'll see how things go from there, but obviously the next [progressive] step would be to pitch in a game. When? I don't know, but soon hopefully."
Johnson is tentatively scheduled to throw a side session on Saturday and then the team will decide whether he is ready for game action. Depending on how many pitches he throws in his side work, he could conceivably be ready to pitch in a game as soon as Monday against the Rockies.

Great news for the D'backs. A healthy Johnson could give them the best 1-2-3 punch in the majors along with Webb and Haren.
