PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks today announced that Junior Noboa has been promoted to Special Assistant to the General Manager, Latin American Operations.

Noboa has served as the Director of Latin American Operations since October, 2003. He was the organization's first international hire in August, 1995 and a month later signed the organization's first two players. In 1997, Noboa was the first recipient of the Roland Hemond Award, bestowed upon a member of the baseball department who best exemplifies the "Diamondback" approach to their work. Additionally, he works as the Director of the Diamondbacks' baseball academy in the Dominican Republic.
