Kelvim Escobar had nobody to blame but himself this time as his losing streak reached seven consecutive decisions.
Escobar entered Sunday's matchup with the Arizona Diamondbacks having given up just two earned runs in each of his previous four starts. Errors and a lack of run support led to an 0-3 mark in those games.
This time, the Diamondbacks hit the ball hard and often in a 9-7 victory that avoided a sweep by the Angels. It would have been Los Angeles' first sweep of the season.
"I don't even know the last time I won a game; I think it's been over a month," said Escobar, whose last victory was May12. "I can't worry about that kind of stuff. I have to keep throwing and working. There is still a long way to go and I feel good. I'm healthy."
