JUPITER, Fla. (AP) - Colby Rasmus got the St. Louis Cardinals off to a fast start, which is exactly what they want from him.
A top prospect who is trying to win the center-field job, Rasmus was on base all four times Wednesday and scored four runs to help the Cardinals rout St. Louis University 15-2 in a game ended after six innings by mutual agreement.
Rasmus singled his first two times up and walked twice. He scored the Cardinals' first run ahead of Barton's homer, which was wind-aided on a cold day in Florida, where temperatures were in the low 60s.
"I felt good,'' Rasmus said. "I took some good swings. It's good to get those first swings out of the way.''
