Manny Selects Scott Boras As His New Agent

Red Sox [team stats] general manager Theo Epstein confirmed yesterday that Manny Ramirez [stats] informed the team on Thursday that he has switched agents, selecting Scott Boras as his representation.
Ramirez had been with Scott Parker and Greg Genske since Jeff Moorad joined the Arizona Diamondbacks front office in 2004.
“It’s always a privilege to talk to great hitters and this guy’s a Hall of Fame hitter,” Boras said last night. “He’s a very dedicated worker and he has a chance to play the game for a long time because of his ability and how he conditions himself.”
While the change doesn’t figure to affect the Red Sox’ approach regarding Ramirez’ contract status, it might give the slugger a new outlook if the Sox don’t pick up the $20 million team option following this season or next season.
