IronPigs Unveil Preliminary Promotions

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs have unveiled the preliminary 2008 promotional schedule for their inaugural season. The list is highlighted by 18 fireworks shows, more than two dozen overall giveaways nights - including three bobblehead doll nights - and appearances by numerous national entertainment acts. The IronPigs will continue to add and announce additional promotions prior to Opening Day.

"Our emphasis has always been to providing fans of all ages with an unrivaled entertainment experience, and a top-notched promotional schedule is a key element of that commitment," remarked IronPigs General Manager Kurt Landes. "With the significant amount of fireworks shows, giveaways and entertainment acts, there will always be something new and exciting to enjoy at Coca-Cola Park."

The IronPigs home opener is scheduled for April 11, 2008, at 7:05 p.m. against the defending International League champion Richmond Braves. All fans in attendance will receive a commemorative Opening Day ticket and special frame along with being treated to a post-game fireworks extravaganza.

A total of 18 post-game fireworks shows are already scheduled, including the eve of Memorial Day on May 25. In the days leading up to July 4, the IronPigs will celebrate our nation's independence with back-to-back fireworks displays on July 2 and July 3. The show on July 3 will be a unique 3-D fireworks experience.

On April 26, the first 2,500 children (12 and under) will receive a bobblehead of Phillies superstar Jimmy Rollins. Additional bobblehead nights for children are scheduled for June 29 and August 9 when the IronPigs honor two of the brightest young stars in baseball -- 2006 National League MVP Ryan Howard and two-time All-Star, Chase Utley, respectively.

The first of four unique Pint Glass giveaways for the first 3,000 adults (21 and older) is planned for April 17. The Pint Glass series continues throughout the summer, with additional giveaways lined up for May 15, July 23 and August 26.

A trio of baseball giveaways for the first 3,500 fans in attendance will be given away at Coca-Cola Park on May 10, June 17 and July 22.

Several other exciting giveaway items are scheduled for the 2008 season, such as IronPigs Magnet Schedule Giveaway (April 12), Wooden Bat Giveaway (April 27), Pink Hats for Mother's Day (May 11), Golf Umbrellas (May 14), Bucket Hats for Father's Day (June 15), IronPiggy Banks (July 6), Throwback Caps (July 9), Team Card Sets (August 17) and Wall Calendars (August 27).

Fans attending IronPigs games will become accustomed to seeing several traveling mascots and acts throughout the season. Popular acts that will make appearances in 2008 include The Phillie Phanatic (May 22 and August 17), Birdzerk (May 24), Skyy Dog USA (June 11), The Zooperstars (June 14), Reggy (June 28) and Myron Noodleman (July 19).

Monday through Saturday games are predominately scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with notable exceptions for Education Day on April 30 (10:35 a.m.), a Business Person's Special on May 29 (12:05 p.m.) and Camp Day on July 24 (11:05 a.m.).

Sunday games are scheduled for 1:35 p.m. in April, May and June; and 5:35 p.m. in July and August. The lone exception is on the eve of Memorial Day (May 25), which will feature a 6:05 p.m. Sunday start time.
