Jason Giambi homered for the second straight game as the Yanks rolled behind Andy Pettitte to sweep the Indians for the second time this year. New York kept pace with Seattle in the American League Wild Card race and moved to 23-8 since the All-Star break. Melky Cabrera also homered.

Looking for positives in the series finale, the Tribe turned to Jake Westbrook, who was largely sharp outside of surrendering a two-run homer to Jason Giambi in the fourth. Offense remained a problem, as the Indians wasted a big chance in the seventh inning.
