Reds Eyeing Managerial Candidates
Quote:
Cubs broadcaster Bob Brenly said he hasn't heard from the Reds about their managerial opening, despite a report in the Cincinnati Enquirer saying he was on a short list of candidates. "It's all rumors. I haven't heard anything from anybody," said Brenly, in a report in the Chicago Sun-Times. "I'd be interested in talking." Brenly managed the Diamondbacks from 2001-04, and led theteam to a World Series victory over the Yankees in 2001.
According to the Enquirer, the Reds have contacted Joe Girardi about the job opening and an ownership source confirmed that money won't prevent the team from pursuing anyone -- even if player payroll has to be adjusted slightly to compensate.
