Default Prior not ready to wait till next year

MILWAUKEE -- Mark Prior grew testy Thursday when asked if he has considered resting his right shoulder for the remainder of the season, but the Cubs pitcher couldn't say if he will be healthy in five days, when his spot comes up again in the rotation.

It hasn't been a fun season for Prior (1-6), who struggled through his shortest start in exactly two years as the Milwaukee Brewers capitalized on myriad Cubs mistakes in an 8-6 victory.

Prior gave up five earned runs in three innings; the last time he lasted only three innings was Aug. 10, 2004, against the San Diego Padres.

''It's been a long year,'' Prior said. ''Things haven't been as great as I would have liked. I have some ideas [as to what's wrong], but I'm going to keep those private.
