A large steering wheel rose plaque with two tone metal, finely worked with six baseball bat motifs surrounded by the names of both WESTSIDE BREWERY CO. and CHALMERS MOTOR CO. The centre of the plaque depicting the messenger Mercury bearing the Chalmers emblem and holding a laurel wreath and baseball. The surrounding eight rose petals are engraved with every winner of the award from 1911-1914. A committee of baseball writers designed a voting structure, one writer from each league city voted for eight players. Ty Cobb was the first winner for the American League and F. Chulle for the National League.
Hugh Chalmers had agreed to fund the award from 1911 to 1920 but financed restraints ended the award in 1914.

This award is set in a black and gilt frame and was made by Robbins & Co Attleboro Mass.
