Nomar Garciaparra launched a personal assault on baseball's record book Monday night, but only because the Arizona Diamondbacks launched an assault of their own, whether intentional or otherwise, on various parts of Garciaparra's body.
The Dodgers first baseman was hit three times once in the left shoulder, once on the bill of his helmet and once on the left calf by three different pitchers, the last of whom was immediately sent to his room by plate umpire Ted Barrett.
