Nate McLouth went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs and three RBI while Zach Duke picked up his first win of the season in Pittsburgh's 12-6 victory over the San Francisco Giants in the opener of a three-game series at PNC Park. Duke scattered eight hits and three walks in 7 1/3 innings, allowing three runs while fanning three in his first victory since June 12, 2007. The Pirates belted 14 hits, as Freddy Sanchez was 3- for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBI, while Adam LaRoche belted a two-run homer in the blowout. Xavier Nady also added a pair of RBI for Pittsburgh, which halted a two-game skid. Jose Castillo hit a three-run homer for the Giants, who have dropped two straight, while Rich Aurilia was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in the loss.

Chipper Jones hit a two-run homer as the Atlanta Braves downed the San Diego Padres, 5-3, in the opener of a three-game set at Turner Field. Jair Jurrjens (4-2) got the win as he gave up just one run on seven hits with a walk and eight strikeouts in six innings. Brain Giles went 4-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and Adrian Gonzalez drove in two for the Padres, who have dropped four of five. Chris Young (2-3) was saddled with the loss as he gave up five runs on nine hits in five frames.

Carlos Zambrano tossed eight brilliant shutout innings to lead the Chicago Cubs to a 3-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Zambrano (5-1) allowed three hits and struck out three with three walks for the Cubs, who rebounded from a loss in Monday's series opener and halted a two-game skid. Ronny Cedeno drove in two runs while Aramis Ramirez notched an RBI and a run scored in the victory. Ken Griffey had two hits for the Reds, who lost for the sixth time in their last seven games overall. Aaron Harang (1-5) started on the mound and absorbed the loss after he allowed three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts over seven innings. Harang also registered a hit for Cincinnati.

Scott Olsen allowed just two hits over 8 2/3 shutout innings, and Luis Gonzalez went 4-for-4 and knocked in a run as the Florida Marlins topped the Milwaukee Brewers, 3-0, in the opener of a three- game series. Olsen (4-1) struck out eight and issued four walks in falling one out short of his first career complete game. Kevin Gregg only needed one pitch to record his sixth save. Mike Jacobs belted a two-run homer, while Dan Uggla and Hanley Ramirez scored a run apiece, as the Marlins won for the third time in four games. Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun had the only hits for the Brewers, who lost their fourth straight game. Jeff Suppan (1-2) took the loss after allowing three runs on eight hits in five-plus innings.

Lance Berkman scored the game-winning run on Carlos Lee's two-run double in the eighth inning and registered his first career 5-for-5 effort at the plate in Houston's come-from-behind 6-5 victory over the Washington Nationals at Minute Maid Park. Jose Valverde, who has blown three saves this season, pitched a perfect ninth for his seventh save. Berkman's perfect plate performance resulted in two doubles, three singles, four runs scored and an RBI, while Lee finished with three hits and three RBI to fuel Houston's fourth straight win. Doug Brocail (2-0) got the win. Aaron Boone and Nick Johnson added solo homers for the Nationals, who had won six of their previous seven. Ayala (1-2) was credited with the loss after losing the lead, while Shawn Hill allowed three runs on eight hits and four walks in his 5 1/3 inning-start for Washington, which dropped the opener of the three-game series.

Braden Looper got all but the last two outs as the St. Louis Cardinals downed the Colorado Rockies, 6-5, in the second of a four-game set at Coors Field. Looper (5-1) gave up four runs on 10 hits in 8 1/3 innings and added two hits, an RBI and a run scored at the plate for the Cardinals, who have won three straight and six of seven. Ryan Ludwick went 4-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in the win. Chris Iannetta hit a solo home run and drove in three while Mark Redman (2-3) was saddled with the loss after giving up five runs on nine hits in just 2 2/3 innings of work for the Rockies, who have dropped five of their last six games.

Stephen Drew went 2-for-4 and belted a three- run home run as the Arizona Diamondbacks topped the Philadelphia Phillies, 6-4, in the second of a four-game series at Chase Field. Chris Young doubled, drove in a run and scored twice for the Diamondbacks, who avoided a season- high three-game losing streak. Randy Johnson (2-1) picked up the win after allowing four runs on five hits over six innings, striking out six. Chad Qualls, Tony Pena and Brandon Lyon each pitched a scoreless inning in relief, with Lyon notching his 10th save. Eric Bruntlett homered, doubled and knocked in three runs for the Phillies, who suffered just their fourth loss in their last 12 games. Adam Eaton (0-1) allowed six runs on five hits in four innings, taking his first loss of the year after no-decisions in his first six starts.

Blake DeWitt's inside-the-park homer provided the deciding runs, and the Dodger bullpen threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings, as Los Angeles earned a 5-4 win over the New York Mets. Hiroki Kuroda threw just 3 1/3 innings in his start, surrendering four runs -- two earned -- on eight hits and three walks. Hong-Chih Kuo (2-1) was stellar in relief, as he struck out eight batters and walked one over 3 2/3 scoreless innings. DeWitt finished 3-for-4 with four runs batted in, while James Loney went 2-for-4 for the red-hot Dodgers, who have won 10 of 11. Nelson Figueroa (2-2) took the loss after giving up five runs on eight hits in five innings, while walking four and striking out three. Ryan Church had a double and homer to lead the New York offense, but his lapse in the field may have cost the go-ahead run.
