Final Score: Baltimore 5, Chicago 1
Final Score: Chicago 6, Baltimore 5

John Danks' perfect game was broken up by Adam Jones' sixth-inning single before Guillermo Quiroz broke open the game with a two-run home run, as Baltimore began a long day of baseball with a 5-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field. The battle of two solid starters in the first game of a doubleheader held serve in the early going, with a scoreless game until Quiroz's homer in the sixth. It was more than enough for Brian Burres (3-1), who pitched eight scoreless frames with three hits surrendered and four strikeouts. Danks (2-2) was the hard-luck loser, giving up two runs on four hits over 6 1/3 frames with four strikeouts and zero walks. In Game 2, Brian Anderson's single drove in the winning run in the ninth, as the Chicago White Sox clipped the Baltimore Orioles, 6-5, to split the day-night doubleheader. Mark Buehrle gave up three runs on three hits over six innings for the White Sox, but came away with a no decision. Bobby Jenks (1-0) pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up the win. Anderson finished 2-for-5 with two RBI, while Nick Swisher belted his third home run for Chicago. A.J. Pierzynski and Carlos Quentin each had two hits and scored a run. Steve Trachsel was charged with five runs -- four earned -- on five hits in three-plus innings for the Orioles, who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Four relievers combined to hurl 1/3 scoreless frames until Randor Bierd (0-1) surrendered the game-winning run in the ninth. Luke Scott went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Ramon Hernandez knocked in a pair of runs. Kevin Millar crushed his fourth home run of the season and Melvin Mora added two hits and an RBI.

Final Score: Cleveland 4, New York 3

Victor Martinez laced an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning as Cleveland clipped the New York Yankees, 4-3, in the second contest of a four-game set. Against Ross Ohlendorf (0-1), Grady Sizemore singled with one out, and moved to second when David Dellucci singled to right. Travis Hafner was granted an intentional walk that loaded the bases, then Martinez deposited a pitch to left in front of a drawn-in outfield to score Sizemore for the winning run. Sizemore, Dellucci and Hafner also drove in runs for the Indians, who have won five straight games. Masahide Kobayashi (1-0) earned his first major-league victory by allowing just two hits with two strikeouts over two relief innings. Starter Jeremy Sowers was charged with seven hits and three runs over 5 1/3 frames. Jorge Posada had a three-run triple for the Yankees, who have dropped three in a row. Johnny Damon finished 4-for-5 and Derek Jeter added three hits in the loss. Starter Ian Kennedy was solid in the no-decision, allowing three runs and four hits over five innings.

Final Score: Detroit 6, LA Angels 4

Armando Galarraga carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning and the Tigers broke a tie with three runs in the seventh, as Detroit downed the LA Angels of Anaheim, 6-4, in the middle of a three-game set from Comerica Park. Galarraga, starting in place of the injured Dontrelle Willis, surrendered three runs -- one earned -- on three hits and fanned three in six-plus frames for Detroit, which has won five of its last six games. The rally made a winner of Aquilino Lopez (2-0), who finished the seventh. Magglio Ordonez doubled twice and drove in two runs, while Curtis Granderson double, tripled and scored a pair of runs. Placido Polanco added two hits and two RBI and two runs scored. Dustin Moseley gave up three runs on six hits over five innings for the Angels, who had their winning streak halted at three games. Darren O'Day (0-1) allowed three runs -- one earned -- on four hits in two innings to absorb the loss. Vladimir Guerrero was 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Maicer Izturis knocked in two runs.

Final Score: Kansas City 2, Toronto 1

Jose Guillen hit the go-ahead solo home run in the sixth inning, and Luke Hochevar hurled six strong innings on the way to his first Major League win as the Kansas City Royals edged the Toronto Blue Jays, 4-2. Hochevar (1-1), the first overall pick in the 2006 draft, allowed one run on six hits for the Royals, who have won the first two games of this series after a seven-game losing streak. Joakim Soria pitched a scoreless ninth for his sixth save. Ross Gload drove in the other run for Kansas City, while Mark Teahen doubled and scored. Shaun Marcum (2-2), lost in his second straight start after allowing two runs on four hits in his seven-inning outing for the Blue Jays, who dropped their sixth straight. Alex Rios drove in the only run for Toronto, while David Eckstein went 3-for-5.

Final Score: Tampa Bay 2, Boston 1

Akinori Iwamura's first home run of the season, a two-run shot in the eighth inning, lifted Tampa Bay past Boston, 2-1, in the middle contest of three from Tropicana Field. B.J. Upton and Dioner Navarro collected the only other hits for the Rays, who have taken the first two games in the set and have won a season-high five consecutive games overall. Scott Dohmann (2-0) retired the final batter in the eighth to earn the win for starter Edwin Jackson, who scattered five hits and one run over seven innings. Troy Percival hurled a scoreless ninth to pick up his fifth save. Jacoby Ellsbury drove in the lone run for the Red Sox, who have lost four straight. The home run spoiled a great effort by Sox starter Clay Buchholz (1-2), who gave up only three hits and two runs over eight innings.

Final Score: Minnesota 12, Texas 6

Mike Lamb went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in, as the Minnesota Twins used a series of late rallies to double up Texas, 12-6, at Rangers Ballpark. Brendan Harris went 3-for-5 with a double and Michael Cuddyer ripped a three-run homer for Minnesota, which snapped a three-game losing streak. Starter Scott Baker had a rough outing, allowing five runs on eight hits before leaving with a groin strain after 4 1/3 frames. Matt Guerrier, Dennys Reyes (1-0), Jesse Crain and Pat Neshek held Texas scoreless until the ninth inning, when Bobby Korecky let in a single run. Reyes was credited with the win after allowing one hit and one walk in two-thirds of an inning. Josh Hamilton finished 3-for-4 with two RBI, while David Murphy went 2-for-5 with three driven in for the Rangers, who have lost eight of nine. Sidney Ponson, whose Triple-A contract was purchased earlier Saturday, gave up five runs -- but just one earned -- on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings. Jamey Wright (1-1) allowed the decisive run in the sixth inning to absorb the loss.

Final Score: Seattle 5, Oakland 3

Erik Bedard returned from a stint on the disabled list to limit the Athletics to two hits over 6 2/3 scoreless innings, as Seattle held on to defeat Oakland, 5-3, at Safeco Field.
