Magglio Ordonez went 3-for-4, blasted a pair of home runs and drove in four as Detroit pounded Texas, 8-2, in the final game of three from Comerica Park. Curtis Granderson, Brandon Inge and Ryan Raburn also went deep for the Tigers, who swept the set by outscoring Texas 37-10. Edgar Renteria added an RBI. Zach Miner (1-1) notched the win by striking out three without allowing a hit in 3 1/3 innings of relief for starter Jeremy Bonderman. Bonderman issued a career-high seven walks with seven strikeouts over 4 2/3 frames. Michael Young homered and David Murphy added a run-scoring walk for the Rangers, who have dropped seven in a row. Texas starter Jason Jennings (0-4) was charged with five runs on five hits with five walks in five innings, allowing three homers in the loss.

Gary Matthews finished 3-for-5 with three runs batted in as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim rallied past the Boston Red Sox, 7-5, in the finale of a three-game set from Fenway Park. Erick Aybar added two hits, an RBI and a pair of runs scored for the Angels, who have won five of seven including two of three in the series. Mike Napoli homered and Chone Figgins also drove in a run. Joe Saunders (4-0) allowed seven hits and three runs over six innings to record the win. David Ortiz launched a two-run homer and Coco Crisp also drove in a pair for the Red Sox, who have dropped two in a row after winning six straight. Manny Delcarmen (0-1) took the loss, allowing two runs without recording an out. Justin Masterson, making his first major-league start, scattered two hits and one run over six full innings. The 23-year-old fanned four but walked four in the no- decision.

Donnie Murphy went 3-for-5 with two home runs and four runs batted in, and the Oakland Athletics rolled to an 11-2 win over the Minnesota Twins in the finale of a three-game set. Greg Smith (2-0) pitched seven strong innings, scattering seven hits and letting up two runs with three strikeouts and one walk. Rajai Davis went 3-for-4 with a run for the A's, who have won five of six. Designated hitter Frank Thomas, debuting with Oakland after signing with the club earlier in the day, went 0-for-3 with a pair of walks, dropping his batting average to .159. Francisco Liriano (0-3) continued to struggle in his return from elbow surgery, as he was ripped for five hits and six runs with three walks in only 2/3 of an inning. Carlos Gomez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run for Minnesota, which dropped the last two of this series after winning three straight.

Carl Crawford went 3-for-5 with two steals, a run scored and one batted in to lead the Tampa Bay Rays in a 5-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays at the Disney Sports Complex. Eric Hinske finished 1-for-4 with two runs batted in for the Rays, who swept the Jays in a three-game set. Evan Longoria and Dioner Navarro each added an RBI in the win. Andy Sonnanstine (3-1) got the win by allowing just three runs on six hits in 6 1/3 innings of work. Troy Percival got the save, his fourth of the year, after he allowed one hit in the ninth. Shannon Stewart and Gregg Zaun each had a pair of hits for Toronto, which has dropped four in a row. Marco Scutaro had the only RBI for the Jays. Dustin McGowan (1-2) absorbed the loss after he was touched for five runs -- four earned -- on seven walks and four hits in four-plus innings on the mound.

Cliff Lee tossed his first career major league shutout as Cleveland edged Kansas City, 2-0, sweeping a doubleheader at Kauffman Stadium. Lee (4-0) was tremendous in the start, scattering just three hits, fanning nine batters and walking none to lower his earned run average to a miniscule 0.28 on the season. The 29-year-old lefty is off to the best start of his major league career and has given up just 10 hits and one earned run in 31 2/3 innings of work overall. David Dellucci's solo homer broke a scoreless contest, Travis Hafner had two hits and scored a run, and Asdrubal Cabrera chipped in with an RBI for Cleveland, which swept the three-game series and has won five of its last seven games. The loss went to Brian Bannister (3-2), who was charged with two runs and four hits over 6 2/3 innings. He fanned four and didn't walk a batter, but his solid outing failed to halt what is now a seven-game skid for Kansas City. In the opener, Grady Sizemore had four hits, including a solo homer, and also drove in two runs as the Indians held off the Royals, 9-6.

Joe Crede singled home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth to lead the Chicago White Sox past the New York Yankees, 7-6, in a game that saw 85 minutes of two separate rain delays. Paul Konerko ended 2-for-4 with a run scored and one driven in, while Jim Thome had a solo home run and scored twice for Chicago, which snapped a two- game losing streak. Gavin Floyd got the start for the White Sox, lasted six innings and gave up five runs on five hits in the no-decision. Bobby Jenks (1-0) got the win as he induced pinch-hitter Jorge Posada to hit into a double play ball to end the top of the ninth. Melky Cabrera went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer for the Yankees, who saw their three-game win streak halted. Bobby Abreu had two hits and two RBI, and Jason Giambi was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. Derek Jeter and Morgan Ensberg each knocked home a run in defeat. Phil Hughes got the start, but was yanked after the 50-minute rain delay in the middle of the third inning. His line was two innings pitched, one hit and one strikeout. Joba Chamberlain (1-1) absorbed his first major league loss by throwing 1 1/3 innings and yielding one run on two hits. Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez was back with his teammates after spending the last three days with his wife, who gave birth to the couple's second daughter late Monday night. Rodriguez was also nursing a quadriceps injury he suffered in Sunday's win against Baltimore. It is unclear when he will be back in the lineup.

Adam Loewen started for Baltimore and went 2 2/3 innings, giving up five runs on four hits in the no decision. Chad Bradford (2-1) absorbed the win by going 1 1/3 frames and giving up just a hit. George Sherrill got the save -- his eighth on the year -- after pitching the ninth and giving up just one hit. Ichiro Suzuki belted a two-run homer in the seventh for the Mariners, who have dropped two in a row and four of six. Jose Vidro added a pair of RBI, while Yuniesky Betancourt had three hits and scored twice. Seattle starter Jarrod Washburn gave up two runs on six hits in five innings in the no decision. Sean Green (1-1) was dealt the loss after he was touched for one run and one hit in 1 1/3 innings on the hill.
