Belisle Off DL, On Hot Seat
Quote:
Los Angeles Dodgers leadoff hitter Rafael Furcal slammed a home run into the right field stands. Russell Martin doubled. Andre Ethier walked.
That was just the beginning of a spoiled debut for right-hander Matt Belisle, who was reinstated Monday from the disabled list
Obviously it's a pretty tough disappointment to come in like that and have those results. I felt very in control of the rhythm and the tempo of it all. (I) felt early on that there were a lot of good pitches that were hit," Belisle said.
"As the game progressed, I didn't expand the zone quite enough for how aggressive they were swinging. I did make some mistakes, but it was a little bit of everything tonight. You all saw it. That was just a beating. That was a lot of hits."
In three rehabilitation starts in the minors, Belisle went 3-0 with a 1.09 ERA. He pitched 242/3 innings, allowed 17 hits, four runs (three earned), one walk and struck out 12.
Fans began booing Belisle in Monday's third inning after he surrendered consecutive hits to Ethier and Matt Kemp.
