Blue Jays scrape out a win in extras to sweep Rangers

Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - Joe Inglett was 1-for-4 with two runs batted in, including the game-deciding sacrifice fly, to lead the Toronto Blue Jays past the Texas Rangers, 5-4, in 10 innings.

Rod Barajas ended the day 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI for the Blue Jays, who swept the Rangers in Arlington for the first time since taking three straight from April 26-28, 1985; the club had lost 16 of its last 19 games in the stadium before the sweep. Vernon Wells and Shannon Stewart each had two hits.

Starter A.J. Burnett went 5 2/3 frames, giving up four runs on seven hits in the no decision. Jesse Carlson (1-0) got the win by throwing two-thirds of the ninth inning. B.J. Ryan got his first save of the year in yielding only one hit in the tenth. Ryan was activated before the game, as he had not pitched in the majors since April 14 of last season because of Tommy John surgery.

Great sweep by the Jays, I didn't get to see any of the games because they weren't on in my area.

This should give the team a big boost as they head into Baltimore for 2 then home to face the Ranges for a couple more.
