This is not a devastating injury, by any means. Harden could probably even pitch throught it - however, the A's are taking the smart route and letting him rest up.

There is no reason to feel disillusioned with Harden. While injuries are frustrating, they have yet to truly hamper Harden's on-field performance. Just take precautionary measures with him - make sure he gets his four or five days worth of rest, keep him on a pitch count, keep him away from too much breaking stuff, and the like.

Trading Harden, or letting him get away through any other means, would be a tragic mistake for the A's. Harden's still only 26, and has the stuff to rank among the top dozen or so pitchers in the game.
